The Ins and Outs of Investing Through an IRA
By Erin O'Connor | Tue Apr 06 2021
Did you know accredited, entrepreneurial-minded investors from the United States can invest in companies with RENEW from an Individual Retirement Account (IRA)? An IRA is a tax-advantaged investing tool that sets aside funds for retirement savings. A special type of IRA, known as a self-directed IRA, allows you to invest in different asset classes, beyond the typical investments that IRAs can usually hold. Self-directed investments can include alternative asset classes, such as investments with RENEW and the Impact Angel Network (IAN). In order to invest with RENEW through your IRA, you’ll need to work with a custodian that can accommodate self-directed investments into alternative asset classes.
For members of the IAN who wish to invest in companies through their IRA, RENEW can work with any custodian that is set up to facilitate self-directed investments into alternative asset classes. If you already have a custodian who allows this, we can work with them.
